More Arts correspond with higher graduation rates[wealth culture]

November 18, 2009
First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Denver High School

A new study by the Center for Arts Education has found that schools that have increased access to arts education programs also have higher graduation rates.Well, its kinda make sense, Arts has always been known to open minds, motivate for challenging opportunities.Listen Richard Kessler, CAE’s Executive Director, and Doug Israel, Director of Research and Policy proving their point.Meanwhile, a study was published earlier this year out of Cambridge University coming to much the same conclusion in Britain. Focusing on math, science and reading — especially in the Test Test Test! framework that Arne Duncan espouses — and excluding the arts can have really detrimental effects on kids, emotionally and intellectually. This is what is needed to make the change we need to make – solid data to support the correlation between art activity and academic outcomes. Put this study together with the Cambridge study, do more and argue, argue, argue for the requisite funding.

No Full-Frontal for Levi Johnston,Thanks God !

November 17, 2009

Playgirl’s Daniel Nardicio released this statement to Gawker: “He did not give ‘full-frontal’ as his manager Tank Jones reported he would. We’re thrilled with the photos we got, and are confident people will love them. Although there may be glimpses, we did not get full on frontal nudity.”

Basically, a bunch of bullshyts, here’s on record what he said when interviewed by USmagazine

Bristol Palin’s baby daddy Levi Johnston says he’s going to drop his pants for Playgirl even he’s still wondering which “side” he’ll show.

“Team Levi is in the process of preparing for his Playgirl appearance,” his lawyer Rex Butler told Usmagazine.com. “He is in the gym six days a week for the next three weeks.

An insider qualified it as the worst decision he could have made because Playgirl magazine — on life-support and barely making it day-to-day–  being out of print all they have is online, and some of the worst photographers in the business.

In the behind the scenes video at VF.com, his “adviser” teases him about the Playgirl shoot asking if he’s someone who would regret showing an underequipped “Johnson” (with no sense of irony) or would require an extra fold-out to display his “Johnson.” Levi’s demure response is not encouraging.

Carla Bruni Sarkozy From Supermodel to First Lady

EXCLUSIVE - Carla Bruni-Sarkozy arriving at the TV show 'Vivement Dimanche' in Paris

Bio from the French Magazine Paris Match

Though the French profess a certain disdain for Sarkozy’s unpresidential style, they clearly cannot get enough. “Carla has led many lives,” the noted journalist Christine Ockrent, whose companion, Bernard Kouchner, is the French foreign minister, tells me. “She’s a kind of alpha female. She was never a courtesan like Pamela Harriman—she was more like a female Don Juan.” Carla Bruni is no stranger to privilege.

In the opening scene of her sister Valeria’s semi-autobiographical film, It’s Easier for a Camel … , the female protagonist goes to church to confess, “I am rich—I am very, very rich.” Bruni was born into one of the industrial dynasties in Turin. The family fortune came from the ceat company, which produced electrical cable. Alberto Bruni-Tedeschi, the patriarch, however, was as much a composer and art collector as a capitalist. “He could converse on anything from A to Z,” says a family friend.

Carla’s extroverted mother, Marisa, who appears in Valeria’s films, was a concert pianist. Carla, Valeria, and their brother, Virginio, grew up on a vast estate outside the city. Carla studied piano, violin, and guitar. “Ours were not the kind of parents who would spend time with children,” she tells me. But neither, she adds, were they interested “in the power of money. Maybe because my parents were artists.

I remember that every time my father had to choose between increasing his business and going to the museum he would go to the museum, and I think that was transmitted to us.” In 1975, when the Red Brigades were kidnapping wealthy individuals, Carla’s family moved to Paris, where she attended an Italian school and received a French baccalaureate. Her parents expected her to continue her studies, but she soon tired of the 37 Métro stops it took to get to classes on art and architecture, and she couldn’t wait to be on her own. So when her brother’s girlfriend, a model, told her to try modeling, she made her move. “What I wanted was to be free, independent of my parents,” says Carla. “Modeling is a fast-acting job—right away you get to work, and you learn in two or three months by working.” That became her pattern: take on a big challenge, learn fast, and land on top.

Carla Bruni Sarkozy on the web

Though its bugging from time to time since its launch thanks to high traffic, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy website,carlabrunisarkozy.org, made its ranks within a bunch of other highly read political news websites.Among them the artistically acclaimed Segoléne Royal’s website, she was a presidential candidate for 2007.Club Villepin.fr, the former Prime Minister website and Elysée twitter account ..etc

A start with bugs and media coverage, discovering a design with pastel colors, clean, inspiring glossy upscale, the French quickly drawn the parallel with “ Your desired Future’ Ségoléne Royal website which has caused an overnight media firestorm. But not so fast, the comparison stoped at the design similarities, Segolene Royal being a left -wing politician as opposed to Carla Bruni Sarkozy whom married a right- wing politician.

Mandela Day: A 46664 Celebration Concert - Show
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy performs during the Mandela Day

While the singer has already a site dedicated to her albums, this new portal, created by Zeni, the agency’s Web Keyrus group, leans on her other hats – each with its own color code: Ambassador activities for the Global Funds against AIDS, those of her foundation which are aimed to “facilitate access to culture, education and knowledge to fight against social inequalities, and Finally, Carla, first lady.

It gives a homepage  where we can pretty much find everything from  an article listing the “10 things to know about AIDS,”  to another on the culture in prison or the story of her day with Michelle Obama in Pittsburgh and an interview with Jean-Paul Gautier, etc..

“In many parts of the world, when one hears the name” Carla “, it is likely to be Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. But since December 15, 2007, where she was seen with the president, its has  dramatically increased, she’s more popular as ever.

Another Bankruptcy Tale : Marck Ecko

November 16, 2009
Marc Ecko Hosts "All In For Tikva" Casino Night

I didnt even seen it passing in my news channel, so many bankruptcy tales are going on thanks to the recession that  its  impossible to keep it up with all. While i was browsing the medialanscape to get my traditionnal morning news i stumbled up on an article from the NYP reporting the lost control of Marck Ecko’own brand last september of this year.

As reported the hip-hop clothing kingpin  signed over a 51 percent interest in the Marc Ecko brand to Iconix, a New York company that owns a slew of fashion brands including Joe Boxer, Candie’s, Rocawear and London Fog.Ecko this year had laid off workers and auctioned off his watch trademarks and Avirex brand to raise cash in order to pay creditors.

Why is that a surprise ? Marcko made his way through  fashion retailing because  at the time he had a very good concept and there was an untaped market for urban clothing.Since things has evolved, he became a big spending party boy wich itself has completely thrown him out of touch with the “real urban market”.As an economist told me once the sole key to make your business profitable is control and reduce small costs like paper, power, cars, leases, pen…its theses insignificants costs once managed that make your way to fortune.Hence why Si Newhouse canceled Conde Nast’s famous Christmas lunch for the second year in a row and  hired a crisis management expert to reduce drasticaly costs, read no more “Pellegrino, Orangina, Red Bull, Fidji water” for Condenast cafeteria.

Sources said Ecko is still struggling to lease out pieces of his luxurious 280,000- square-foot headquarters in Midtown, which houses everything from a recording studio to a basketball court.Basically, Marck Ekco is best single encapsulated by all the things you should avoid to do once you head a business.

“I’ve had a crazy, wild ride. I’ve done a lot of things that have been naive,” Ecko told The Post. “I’ll take my lumps for a lot of things that, in retrospect, were a little indulgent. Life happens. I don’t regret any of it.”

love, a sweet old fashion notion?

November 15, 2009
Woman photographing man with instant camera, smiling

My friend and i started an interesting conversation on facebook about love an old fashion notion, she thinks so but i dont so here the few things that i ‘ve said to prove my point..please join the conversation..

Oh love certainly does exsist and right now you are ,whether you know it or not, traveling on the road towards it. All these life experiences that you are having along the way, will be of such benefit when you do get to the point of the road, where love is just there, waiting for you. Why do you have to go through bumps in the road, in order to get to the one who loves you and you love in return? Very good question (if I do say so myself LOL)

Well, I am a believer that the bumps make you stronger, help you to get to know yourself better, so that when you reach that point in the road, where that special one has reached that same point, at that same time, you will be able to give, receive and know what true love actually is. You will know yourself so well, and be able to give of who you truly are.

Love still exist but it can be confused sometimes for other feelings such as lust. When we are young and the world is new to us we discover feelings for the first time and they are so strong and powerful we can hardly stand it. But then LIFE shows us what reality is about and we start to pay closer attention to the things around us and are not sooverwhelmed by it all and learn how to cope with people, places, and things on a level as to protect ourselves some what. We go thru many trials and tribulations and thrills, and chills, along the way until one day we are awakened by one of those really clear realities that we love someone and are loved the same way in return. That’s when the whole damn world changes and you could care less about anything except what you and yours are doing.
