THE Black Eyed Peas set a new record at the weekend when they performed during a flight from Melbourne to Perth in a stunt billed as “Mile High Karaoke”. On Friday, 140 Virgin customers and competition winners climbed on to a 737-800 plane in the hope of setting a new record for the world’s highest gig. A record previously held by Jamiroquai who performed at 10,668m in 2007. The Peas soared into history by performing live and karaoke at 12,800m.The red-hot quartet of Fergie, Will.i.am, Taboo and Apl.de.Ap wowed the plane with their karaoke skills – Fergie ripping through Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog while Will.i.am attempted Barry Manilow’s Copacabana.
