Real Estate [ Porn]

November 25, 2009

I have to admitt, i immediately went hard while looking at this glitterious Soho crash pad, who said that Porn was necessary to get aroused ?Obviously, I only need a 6000 SF duplex Penthouse condo loft. It has been newly redesigned and renovated with no expense spared to create the most luxurious and important property in Soho and in all of downtown Manhattan. But the price just pissed me off : 14,995,000 $ ! Jesus Heaven Christ, for that amount you can have a mad crazy place in Central Park + another mad crazy home in the Hamptons or Miami…

More Arts correspond with higher graduation rates[wealth culture]

First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Denver High School

A new study by the Center for Arts Education has found that schools that have increased access to arts education programs also have higher graduation rates.Well, its kinda make sense, Arts has always been known to open minds, motivate for challenging opportunities.Listen Richard Kessler, CAE’s Executive Director, and Doug Israel, Director of Research and Policy proving their point.Meanwhile, a study was published earlier this year out of Cambridge University coming to much the same conclusion in Britain. Focusing on math, science and reading — especially in the Test Test Test! framework that Arne Duncan espouses — and excluding the arts can have really detrimental effects on kids, emotionally and intellectually. This is what is needed to make the change we need to make – solid data to support the correlation between art activity and academic outcomes. Put this study together with the Cambridge study, do more and argue, argue, argue for the requisite funding.

01Rendering of the title wall for Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity

“When creating graphic design for an exhibition we can start in a variety of places. A particular color, the wall layout, or sometimes a typeface will give us a clue to the tone of the show. For a subject as vast and as influential as the Bauhaus, we had to start everywhere at once and create a range of ideas, from vintage to contemporary. Early on, an effort was made to distance ourselves from the Bauhaus’s clichés of color (the use of primaries), type (Bayer-inspired typefaces; see Bloomingdale’s Bags) and form (circles, squares, and triangles). Only after generating hundreds of alternatives and consuming huge amounts of coffee did we begin to stumble upon an appropriate vision for the 2009 show.”
